Stallions Walk Out
At 9:00AM on September 15th, 2011, a crowd of a few hundred kids walked out of their classes today in protest the numerous of the rule changes and teacher relocation’s. They started their protest across the street from Sierra, but was eventually moved to the school auditorium so they didn’t disturb the local residents. This also allowed Principal Shields and Superintendent Miles, who were both in the building at the time, to communicate with protesters in a more organized fashion.
After the first group of protesters were ushered inside by Administration, they discussed the issue further inside the auditorium. At around 10:15, Miles left. But so did about 100 more students.
With the superintendent gone, protesters again walked out, although in smaller numbers.
Afterwords, a few angry parents and guardians came by to voice their opinions to Principal Shields. Fox 21 news came by and took video, photos, and got interviews with the principal, students, and Administration. There will be a district board meeting today in which Mr. Miles and Principal Shields will both be speaking at about today’s events.
